It's been 6 weeks since my last double digit run. This morning, I set off on a 10 miler with an option to extend it if I was feeling good.
So, at 5:45am I got in my car and drove the 5 minutes to beachside. Before going to my start point, I stashed a powerade under some bushes around mile 5. 6am rolls around and I'm off! The first few miles I was sluggish, but after crossing the high rise bridge during mile 2 and the draw bridge at mile 3-4, my legs woke up and I was averaging an 8:45 minute/mile pace.
Somewhere around mile 7, something just clicked and I felt amazing and I ended up running the second half at an average 8:20 minute/mile pace. Reverse split! Oh and I extended my run from 10 miles to 13.1....HALF MARATHON WOOHOO!! When my Garmin hit 13.1, I was near a Publix parking lot heading towards my car and I put my hands in the air and yelled "HELL YEAH HALF MARATHON". This got a few odd looks from people across the lot...LOL!
Total time: 1:52:51
Pace: 8:36
When I got home, I put on my super sexy Recovery Socks. Ladies, contain yourselves!

Awesom. Way to push it on the distance... and at a great pace too... Sounds like you were "in the zone"
Yay! Half Mary! Way to cover those miles, and I'm totally DIGGING the recovery socks. Seriously, going to get a pair soon...Hubs swears by them (and he doesn't even run, as you know). :-)
Silly people looking at you... what do THEY know?
