The SUCCESS:
I ran 16 miles on Saturday averaging a 9:03 pace per mile. It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be and I wasn't sore at all the next day! Woohoo :)
I took this sunrise picture as I hit mile 10:
I went surfing on Saturday after my 16 miler. The waves were a fun 3-4 feet. I wiped out on one wave while doing an off the lip turn and somehow my board flipped upside down in front of me and then I was thrown into it. Right onto the fin with my leg. I also happened to be out on my longboard that day, which has a BIG 9 inch fin on it that looks like this:
It got me right under my knee on the upper shin bone. I suppose I'm lucky it didn't get me an inch higher on my knee and really messed things up, but it still hurt like hell. So now I have a 2 inch gash down to the bone and my upper shin area is sore and bruised. The swelling is almost gone now, so I'm hopeful that it'll be ok to run because I happen to have a half marathon to race on Saturday. For now, it feels like I have shin splints. FML!!!

ohhhh no! Rub a little dirt on it. You will be fine!
Yikes! see this is what i don't surf...and the fact that I live in KS and landlocked. Ice that sucker like crazy! Maybe compression socks when you run might help.
