Daytona Beach Half Marathon Recap

On Halloween morning, my girlfriend and I ran the Daytona Half Marathon. The race starts at the Daytona International Speedway, goes to the beach and back. Since I was in the middle of the hardest part of my marathon training, I decided to run this as a training run and help my girlfriend beat her half marathon PR of 2:11.

Race morning welcomed us with nice temperatures in the upper 50s. There was a little smoke in the air from a fire nearby, but this would clear out by race start and wasn't an issue. Lining up with the other 800 runners, we noticed that not many had dressed for Halloween. There were a few funny costumes though like two guys dressed as Chilean miners.

The race was very well organized and I will definitely be doing this one again. The two bridge crossings added a little challenge as well. Here are a few pictures from the race:

Here we are shortly after the start:

We finished together at 1:59:21 chip time. Blew my girlfriend's old PR out of the water by 12 minutes! I was proud :)

YAY on the PR!

She should get another 4 minutes off just for looking so great while running!
