Haven't posted in a while because life has been quite busy. But since I last posted, I ran my final 20 mile run. I even did it a full 4 minutes faster than my previous 20 miler only 2 weeks prior. And with that, the taper started.
To celebrate my completion of my first training cycle, I rewarded myself with a trip a Puerto Rico. Lucky for me, Mother Nature rewarded me with a HUGE SWELL event for Puerto Rico. I did tons of surfing and hiking in the 4 days I was there. No, I didn't run but all that surfing and hiking counted for good cross training. My legs needed a break anyways. Rather than bore you with a long recap, I'll give you some pictures to tell the story. Click to see a bigger view.

Training update and Puerto Rico pics
Looking for waves....
Found some fun sized waves the first day...
Beautiful scenery....
The swell really came in on the second day. 14-15 feet
This spot, known as Tres Palmas, was the biggest. Some waves were approaching 20 feet here.
So we decided to paddle out :)
And I rode them and didn't get injured! Definitely the biggest waves I've ever ridden. The wide angle of my board cam makes the wave look a little smaller, but I remember looking up and seeing at least another 6-8 feet of water above me. So the wave was around 14-15 feet. What a rush!!!!
Ok ok I didn't make it out without a little injury. But it was worth it!
More beautiful scenery....
One of my last waves I rode before coming home....
Heres a video I put together with my board cam:
And now I am settled in back home and in full taper mode. ONE WEEK TIL MY MARATHON!!!!!
